In the afternoon we visit Ba Dinh Square – the biggest square in Hanoi where all the biggest cultural, political events of the cities, especially demonstrations, take place. Next we start our visit at the Complex of Ho Chi Minh including Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (from outside only as it closes in the afternoon), Ho Chi Minh’s house-on-stilts, his fishpond and the One-Pillar Pagoda. After visiting the complex of Ho Chi Minh, we move towards the Temple of Literature which is considered as the first university of Vietnam. We get to wander around the Old Quarter of Hanoi and Hoan Kiem Lake(Sword Lake) in a one hour cyclo through which you can wander around the narrow streets of Old Quarter and have a glimpse into the life of the locals. We start our day with breakfast at the hotel. Hop on to the beautiful 90km drive south of Hanoi to Ninh Binh, the former capital city of ancient Vietnam before Hanoi became the leading city in the 11th century. Begin your visit to Ninh Binh with a boat trip in Tam Coc, where you can see limestone karsts emerging from green paddy fields, giving the scenery the name "Halong-bay-on-land." This scenery is reminiscent of Guilin in China and Halong Bay in Vietnam. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Ninh Binh. After lunch, we continue to explore Bich Dong Pagoda. Time to go back to Hanoi, and in the way stop to visit Hoa Lu, which used to be the kings' palace in the 10th century and is now famous for the wooden reliefs of the shady Dinh and Le temples. Late in the afternoon, return to Hanoi for overnight stay in Hanoi.

Have breakfast in the hotel and then check out. We depart at 9am and head East for a 3-hour drive to Halong Bay. We come across Red River Delta, Green Paddy Fields, and rural villages on the way to Halong Bay. Once we reach the Halong Bay, check into the overnight cruise.
